Our history

The history of Fixcontrol GmbH shows how an innovative idea in 2012 grew into a company that has continuously developed its products and applications.

From 2021: consolidation

Products and applications increasingly come together. Experience and feedback are continuously fed into optimisation and improvement. Component sourcing leads to a practically complete redesign of the FixLogger. The corporate identity is updated.

2017–2020: further development

The focus is firmly on developing the web applications MyFixcontrol and FixFinder (app and website) and the evaluation software FixAnalysis.

A social media presence extends the company's profile. The website is also relaunched.

2014–2016: the early years

In the first years of business, the focus was above all on developing the products, and the range grew steadily.

Based on input from Fixcontrol, Swiss Orienteering created the “Swiss-O-Finder”.

The first photo shoots made the elaborate design and visualisation of the various products and documentation easier. One of the photos now graces the lid of the FixSet box for good.

The pilot project “Montlingen Finder” (today a Swiss-O-Finder location) was realised and from then on served as a showcase application.

2014: the company is founded

In June 2014, the company Fixcontrol GmbH was founded with its registered office in Teufen. Its purpose is the development and sale of a timing system with accessories, in particular to promote school and recreational sport in orienteering.

2012–2014: the beginnings

In January 2012, Markus Zbinden came up with the idea for a new timing system in which the runner carries the active unit and the orienteering control point acts as a kind of passive badge – so the control points can stay out in the terrain, or permanently mounted, for a long time.

Markus Zbinden brought in Beat Schilbach as an adviser, among other things for electronics. Together they refined the idea, because new technologies allow both the control point unit and the badge to be small and light. Gion-Andri Cantieni joined later, and together they worked step by step on making the new timing system a reality.
